Primrose Challenger R2: Andy Murray vs Grégoire Barrère

So I'm thinking that in the first five games Andy's body had been taken over and was hosting some kind of zombie...

Close, but no cigar. At least he has not simply surrendered.

B seems to have found his form again and leads with a break.  Even though Andy has not played much recently, he should not lose to B.

This is no fun watching. Nearly a replica of the first set with B committed to his game and Andy somehow lacklustre.

Okay, I'd say he's got two issues here: concentration and stamina. And I think if he gets more court time the second one will probably improve and it will help his concentration too.

Even the spectators are looking bored.

Given the field in Geneva, I can't see him getting a lot of court time before RG.  I can't see him playing singles there either if that's what he's planning on doing..

He does not take his chances and even when he tries to claw back into the game, he immediately gives it away. Frustrating!

Andy's serve percentage was pretty dire too, and if he isn't serving well then he tends not to play all that well.

I'm wondering if his ankle is still hampering him a bit, in the sense that it's not as strong as it should be.

^ I think that all that watched that were sad that the serve was not too good tonight!

However, there were some good signs for the next clay tournaments. There was no sign of any issues with his foot and when he focussed he did manage to take control. To come back from 5-0 down to lose the set 6-4 was typically Andy. He will always be a competitor, probably one of the best out there. Not sure why he did not succeed in the second set as I missed a lot.  Shall have to follow Dan who looked good on the clay today. His skills set seems to work on the surface.

Tamaragi, you are right his issues are related more to mental shortfalls and stamina than ability. These are essential for success.
