Giron is a 30 year old American of Argentine and Ecuadorian descent. Currently ranked No. 50, he has a career high of No. 44 achieved on 19 February this year. He has no ATP Tour titles and two Challengers, both on hard courts. His win-loss ratio for this season is 11-12, career 88-105.
He has recorded three top 10 wins in his career: Matteo Berrettini in three very tight sets at the 2020 Paris Masters; Holger Rune, Canada Masters, and Casper Ruud, Japan Open, both in 2023, - all of them as a Qualifier. He reached his maiden ATP Tour final at the San Diego Open in 2022, losing to Brandon Nakashima, and his second at the Dallas Open this year, defeating top seed Frances Tiafoe and fourth seed Adrian Mannarino before losing to Tommy Paul. He then reached his sixth ATP semi-final at Delray Beach but lost to Taylor Fritz. This was followed by a quarter-final appearance at the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships in Houston where he was defeated by Luciano Darderi.
Giron is also no stranger to hip surgery, having, at the age of 21, undergone surgery on his right hip in December 2015 and the left in February 2016, thereby missing the first eight months of 2016 season, during which time he seriously considered quitting the sport.
