The tournament runs from 4th - 15th October and will take place at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center.

The main draw features a blockbuster line-up, with world No.1 and four-time champion Novak Djokovic the only player missing from the top 20 ranked players because he wants to save himself for the World Tour Finals.  Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz headlines the field, while also making his debut at the event, followed by second seed and defending champion Daniil Medvedev.

The only other former champion in the draw is Andy, who lifted the title in 2010 (def. Roger Federer), 2011 (def. David Ferrer) and 2016 (def. Roberto Bautista Agut).  In 2012 he reached the final before losing to Novak Djokovic in three, having failed to capitalise on five match points.  In 2019 he reached the second round before being defeated by Fabio Fognini in a rather fiery encounter which went to three sets, two of which ended in a tiebreak.
