I'm working on the assumption that Andy is still playing as his name was still on the player list yesterday.

The draw is out: the R1 opponent is Matteo Berrettini. I cannot say if it is good or bad.

Reasonably good I'd say.   Berrettini's a big server with a powerful FH and a weak BH.  With the exception of Queens 2021, their matches have always been quite close (H2H 3-2 Berrettini).  He hasn't played for about six months due to injury, so this will be  his second tournament sine his return, hence the protected ranking.

Whoever wins this will play Tomas Martin Etcheverry, which isn't so good for Andy.

Berrettini reached the Phoenix Challenger final, yet lost against last year‘s champion Borges. After B‘s long absence from the game, Andy certainly has a chance. The R2 opponent is more frightening, I agree.
So far the match is scheduled for Wednesday, but it can still change.

I see Andy is also playing doubles with Sebastian Korda at Miami!

Thanks for that Pedantic.

They play Tallon Griekspoor and a British player I've never heard of, Julian Cash, in R1 on Thursday.  Turns out 27 year old Cash is a doubles specialist, currently ranked No. 47, and from his Wikipedia he isn't a player to be ignored.  Griekspoor too has had some success in doubles.
