Let’s hope the tennis gods are a bit kinder this time.

Djokovic has withdrawn due to an elbow injury, so one less to worry about!

As far as I have read it, Andy will play a qualifier. In the next round he may face Medvedev if he comes through. So no benevolent tennis gods.

Yes I've just seen that, and agree!

Not sure that I like him drawing a qualifier in R1.
They can be dangerous being used to the courts and ‘warmed up’ to be match fit.
Andy often takes a while to accustom himself to a new venue so we need him to come out very positive.
Playing AM is also a big challenge that lifts many to play well.

Let's face it, there's not a single person in the draw that anyone on here would like him drawing lol. Top player? No good. Decent player ranked 15-30? No good. Qualifier? No good. It's just a reflection of where he is now ranked and his subsequent inconsistencies.

True but with Andy all we want is for him to win so he plays more and so gets past some of the frustrations of not playing to the standard that he demands from himself.

Must be playing on Thursday as the match isn't on tomorrow's schedule

Could have been worse.

I see he may play on Thursday.
Let us hope that his preparation on clay has worked well as previously his long term injury concerns did make that surface hard for him.

Andy will also play Rome and the BNP Paribas Primrose Challenger in Bordeaux in the run up to the French Open.
