Lendl has been playing the Champion's Challenge with McEnroe, Sampras, and Courier.

Sampras said: "Ivan was my hero growing up, so I really enjoyed playing him tonight," said Sampras, who hadn't made an appearance in the Motor City since his days playing as a teenager on the amateur circuit. "He still hits the ball well and was very tough out there. Playing in these events is a lot of fun for me, but it's not going to be easy to repeat my title."  Semifinal 1: Lendl def. McEnroe, 7-6 (6)
Semifinal 2: Sampras def. Courier, 6-4
Final: Sampras def. Lendl, 8-4

I know many of you do not like Sampras, but thought you all might like to know what Lendl has been doing with his time.

For all she knows about him, I think she has followed him for some time.

I thought he spent it on the golf course?  wink

Seriously though, I love watching these "oldies" play.  They may not be as sharp or as fast as they were in their prime but they can still turn in some very enjoyable performances.

I'd love to see those matches. If someone has clips Craig, Philip, Laundry anyone? pretty please?

I would love to have watched the Lendl v Mac match to see if the old antagonism was still there.  I'm sure Lendl has Andy to thank for  having sharpened his game.  Hitting with Andy must be good preparation for champions ties.  Indeed I think he has said as much himself.
If I had the time I'd love to go and see them at the Albert Hall in December but with 4 days at the 02 I don't, so will just have to watch some of it on TV.

Lendl said in an interview the other day that practising with Andy had done him a lot of good but complained that Andy hit the ball too hard for him!

Goodness, I could just about be his mother!  old  Very Happy

Wonder what Lendl will be doing now Andy's pulled out of Basel?  Or was this part of their Great Plan?  Sorry if I sound cynical but Andy's continuing silence is starting to raise questions in my mind, although I agree 100% with the decision to withdraw.

Me too.  If the O2 loses the contract for the WTF, I might start going to the Golden Oldies instead.
