Great win boys. They seem to have jelled well together, so hopefully they will be playing a lot more together.

I think they are playing together in Bangkok - perhaps it will be the start of a successful partnership. Jamie could really do with a more permanent playing partner.

Congratulations to them. I too hope Jamie has found a more permanent doubles partner, unless Andy wants to play, of course

Jamie and Andre in Bangkok but Jamie and Andy scheduled for Tokyo I think - unless, of course, Andy stands down to let Andre take part. Given that he is down for 3 singles tournaments in 3 weeks he might not mind missing out on the doubles.

Alis, Johnny Mac used to prefer playing doubles rather than practise! Certainly improves your volleying and lobbing

The Tokyo tournament directors must be rubbing their hands with glee. The Olympics and USO Champion is competing in the Singles as well as the Doubles.
As they are the defending Champions, I am not sure the Directors will allow last minute player switch like that. Also, is Andre Sa ranking high enough to guarantee automatic entry with Jamie ?
I agree that Doubles gives excellent net practice which will help progress Andy Singles play to the next level. I am a bit concerned with Andy tour commitments in the next few weeks. I wonder if his body can withstand the rigours and stresses of playing in 3 consecutive weeks. We have seen what happened at Toronto immediately after the Olympics where he had to withdraw after the first round. Due to his style of play with plenty of running and retrieving, it appears his body needs around a week off after a tournament to fully recover.

I'm a bit worried too Philip. Seems a lot of tennis to me.
Really, really don't want him to be injured for O2 either. Watching Tipsaravic instead last year was such a let down

What was the time scale last year when Andy won Bangkok, Tokyo and Shanghai and the doubles in Tokyo with Jamie. I have it in mind it was four titles in three weeks.

Yes. It was 4 titles in 3 weeks, a dominant Asian swing. You can see the points drop off dates are :
Bangkok : 1/10/12
Tokyo : 8/10/12
Shanghai: 15/10/12
It wore Andy out and he ended up injured soon after which is why he picked up 0 point losing his match at the WTF, allowing Federer to clean up the points and starts a winning run back to #1 ranking.

Congrats to Jamie and Andre, that's fantastic news. Great to see Jamie on the up again. Well done lads.
I honestly think the issue with Toronto this year was that Andy was tired, more than anything, and went to Cincy in the same state.
I think he's managed himself after the USO a bit better, had some time to enjoy what he's done and get used to it, which wasn't so after the Olympics.
Didn't Andy pick up his injury in Paris last year? I know that by the time the WTF came around he clearly wasn't right. It was disappointing that he had to pull out, but better that than make the situation worse.
Unless I'm being thick, Andy didn't play Bangkok this year. Wasn't it too soon after the USO for him? That leaves him with Tokyo and Shanghai, and then of course the WTF. I suppose he could pull out of the doubles in Tokyo, but would he want to? It does seem to benefit him as well. One of the benefits, it seems to me, apart from his net play, is that he can't get dragged in to doing media stuff when he is playing. It certainly worked well for him at the Olympics.
Of course, Andy does need to manage himself, and I'm sure he's talked to Lendl about it, but my feeling is that if he wasn't fit, or at least sure he could do it, he wouldn't.
